Kyle Dyck

My name is Kyle Dyck, and I am a Registered Psychologist (#7446) in Alberta.

I received my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2019 and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of British Columbia in 2011.

I know that the challenges we face in life can feel insurmountable and isolating. I am here to support and guide you through it. You don’t have to deal with your circumstances alone.

I have had clients and colleagues tell me that I have a rare capacity to calmly hear and hold space for the intimate, vulnerable, and devastating parts of the human experience. When friends, family, and even other therapists have struggled to hear your story, know that I will be here for you.

My experience at a glance:

  • Private practice. Working with individuals and couples to manage mental health concerns, navigate life transitions, and gain insight into their needs, values, and strengths. While I have worked with a variety of concerns, I have generally focused on the areas of grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, sleep difficulties, and issues around sexuality and spirituality.

  • Interdisciplinary Work. I have worked on teams with medical doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and kinesiologists to provide well-rounded care. This has involved WCB claims, long-term disability insurance, and motor-vehicle accidents. I have worked intensively with occupational rehabilitation, traumatic psychological injuries / PTSD, and post-concussion management.

  • Specialized Training. I have acquired additional training with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Concussion Management. These skills enable me to work more effectively with concerns related to trauma, head injuries, and various forms of sleep disturbances.

I know that meeting with a new therapist can be hard, since you are expecting to share personal and vulnerable information with a stranger. You are always welcome to ask questions about me to better understand me and my background, but in the meantime here is some information about me:

  • I have had a variety of jobs through my life prior to my current career. I have worked as a restaurant server, delivery driver, video game designer, teaching assistant, and more.

  • I spend my free time cooking new recipes, exercising, playing video games, and spending time with my partner and our dog Milla.

  • I have also experienced physical injuries, messy relationships, feeling lost in life, and the loss of people close to me. I meet you in therapy from a place of understanding, humility, and the knowledge that we are all doing our best to get through the things life has thrown our way. Sometimes we all need some extra help.

Let’s Talk.
